As a Charity, we are grateful to our volunteers who also share our passion for Women's Health. We're excited to announce we'll be showcasing the amazing individuals who have given their time and energy to support us. Over time, we'll be featuring different volunteers and sharing their stories. We hope that by highlighting their contributions, we can inspire others to get involved!
Angeliki Taniskidi
My name is Angeliki Taniskidi and I'm a third-year medical student at Barts and London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
My journey with Elly Charity started early in the second year when the 'Obstetrics and Gynecology Society' gave me the great opportunity to get involved with the Charity and its activities.
Elly Charity offered me a unique chance to conduct a survey at Royal London Hospital. Not only did I help in the formulation and preparation of the questions included in the survey, but I was also selected by the team to carry out the survey and meet patients. This experience was new and unusual to me as it was the first time to expose myself to clinics, speak to patients and explain the purpose of the survey, and finally, gain consent.
Interacting with patients of different backgrounds and cultures about participating in research was particularly challenging. It taught me how to approach each unique patient differently and listen compassionately to their concerns about taking part in the research. Also, this valuable experience enhanced my teamwork and communication skills.
Overall, I am very excited to be part of the Elly Charity and offer a set of new skills, knowledge, and perspectives as a passionate medical student.
